Cities of Peace ® is a suite of monumental gold-leaf paintings that honor the history and culture of world cities that have experienced major conflict and trauma, including Baghdad, Beijing, Hiroshima, Jerusalem, Kabul, Lhasa, Monrovia, New York, Sarajevo and Yerevan. Transforming anguish into beauty, the work emphasizes understanding as prerequisite to peace, and celebrates the best of the human spirit.
As part of Cities of Peace the Ellen Frank International Arts Foundation also provides innovative educational programs:
- hands-on, collaborative mentoring and training of international interns working with scholars and artists;
- interdisciplinary research and creative application (history; visual, literary, musical arts; math; science); understanding and appreciation of world cities, diverse cultural traditions, religions, ethnicities, and governance.
